By far the most interesting place we visited in Guthrie was the Drugstore Museum. I could have spent hours there reading the labels on all the old stuff.

This is interesting. It would appear that medicine 100 years ago was more advanced than it is today. We know what causes old age (living a long time) but we’re a long way from knowing how to prevent it.
Naturally I’m very curious about this book so I tried to find it online. I was thinking of the old book sites where you can read books online but, much to my surprise, I found that you can buy it at Amazon.com! Well… it’s rather pricey for a paperback but it’s very tempting.

There was an old dentist’s chair in a small separate room. It’s much scarier in person. Next time you go to the dentist remember this and be thankful you’re living in the 21st century.

Nothing brings home to you the fact that you’re not a kid anymore quite like seeing something in a museum that you remember using. I see a Dr. Pepper bottle, a Pepsi bottle and a 7Up bottle (and Coke bottles of course, which haven’t changed all that much) that I remember from the 60s. I recommend you click on the photo to go to the Flickr page then click “All Sizes” to get a better look.
I plan to upload a few more photos of this museum so check my photostream a couple of days from now.

I’ve been wanting to go there some time…your pictures just make me want to go more. Of course, for me, it would probably be an overnight trip because I think it’s 3+ hours for me to drive there from here.

When you go be sure to visit Extra Special Fabric. It’s at 117 W Oklahoma Ave, I think. I also noticed another fabric store on the same street but didn’t go in that one.

Old age can be prevented. Many, many people never get to experience it.
Of course, this may be a case of the “cure” being worse than the disease

What? No steel Coke cans?
