Another nice place to see in Oklahoma, not far from Talimena, is Robbers Cave State Park. We were only there for several hours and went on a short hike but there are a lot of things to do there, all the usual outdoorsy stuff as you can see from the webpage.
This rock formation is not far from the parking lot.
The trail we hiked was just difficult enough to make out of shape couch potatoes feel like they’ve had a workout. There are a lot of rocks and huge boulders covered with mosses and lichens. Beautiful and very interesting.
