Possibly the best staircase ever.
Odd chocolate shapes. The chocolate tools are sort of cool. (via Bifurcated Rivets)
Michelangelo’s “flying brain”. Interesting post about pattern recognition.

Chocolate natto? As in, natto plus chocolate? Horrifying. (Well, to the tastes of someone born and raised in the U.S.)
I don’t think I could manage the grubworm shaped ones, either. I’m sure they’re perfectly delicious, but…
(And the “sacred deer droppings” I first read as “scared deer droppings” which makes about as much sense.)
I’m reminded of a series of psychological experiments done to determine when the “gross” reflex kicks in in children: kids were offered chocolate fudge shaped as neutral disk shapes, or as a dog-dropping shape (but it was still clear it was the same chocolate fudge) and they noted at what point the children would no longer accept the dropping-shaped fudge. (I think it was about 7). There were other ones, I seem to remember, involving lemonade stirred with (new, clean, and that fact was made clear) flyswatters.
HOWEVER, I do know that feces play a different role in Japanese culture than they do in ours; there is a mascot known as a “lucky poo.”
