I have recently run into a tragic side effect of the Earth Friendly movement. I have long been in the habit of giving my freshly emptied tuna cans to my cats as a treat but the local stores no longer have tuna in small cans. I don’t buy the large cans because I’m the only one in my family who likes tuna. Now it only comes in large cans and little pouches. Won’t someone Please Think of the Children! (Well, they think they’re my children and they would think it was tragic if they ever noticed that they’re not getting tuna cans anymore.)

Actually… the pouches are less “green” than the metal cans. The pouches can’t be recycled. But they are cheaper than the cans… and cheaper to ship. (They weigh less)

Oh, lord, I hope this doesn’t mean MORE things available only in mega-giant-”family” size.
I thought my not reproducing would win me a bit of green “cred.” Can I at least be allowed to buy food in small enough quantities that it does not spoil before I eat it all, or so that I am required to have a giant chest freezer in my house?

First they criticize people for buying so much stuff in bulk at stores like Costco. Now they’re making it more and more impossible to buy stuff in smaller sizes.
It seems like you just can’t win.

You can still get the small size. It’s just that they’re little pouches instead of cans.
