Why do I keep finding weirdness today? Perhaps the Internet has become sentient and it’s trying especially hard to entertain me today. Anyway… Here’s another of those things that I really didn’t need to know about a famous person. With that mental image in my head now I’m sort of glad I don’t watch her in anything regularly. It doesn’t particularly disgust me — after all, as the article points out, she is from Mexico and insects are eaten there. They eat locusts in places like Africa, and what are lobsters and crabs but a species of giant sea insect? To each their own.

Selma Hayek can eat whatever she wants. Just as long as I’m not stuck next to her in an airport lounge and forced to listen to her tell me how much better her diet is than mine.

I read that too, and gagged wholeheartedly. My husband was quick to point out that she needed no makeup effects for her role as the unibrowed Frida Kahlo and perhaps this was part and parcel of that. I couldn’t quite make the connection he was going for but then I know better than to think before coffee.

I should be used to it as much as I watch the Discovery Channel but thinking about a pretty woman eating bugs when she doesn’t even have to to survive is different somehow. I suppose before long there’ll be a new fast food restaurant featuring such “delicacies”.
