Happiness is not normal (PDF) I’m assuming this “proposal to classify happiness as a psychiatric disorder” is satire, but sometimes it does seem like happy people don’t get any respect. Everyone is supposed to be stressed out and anxious and if you’re not you must be in denial about something. So many people don’t even want to believe in happiness.
So, go on… smile. It’ll make people wonder what’s wrong with you.

I get irritated by people who tell me to “smile” (apparently my “neutral face” is not smiling) but I do have to admit I’m smiling on the inside much of the time.
I dunno. Sometimes I wonder if the pharmaceutical industry won’t be happy until we’re all being medicated for something. I know someone who swears the reason that “healthy” cholesterol levels are now considered to be below 200 (rather than below 250, as they used to be) is solely because of statins being on the market.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s true. Sometimes it almost seems like they invent the drug first and then invent a disease for it.
