It doesn’t mean what you think

December 31st, 2010

Among the other joys of this holiday season comes the joy of discovery – my discovery that the accessories for a black powder rifle include a “nipple pick” and a “ball puller”. Yes, I am easily entertained.

Ahh yes, the nipple pick is used to get stuff out of the nipple (The doodad that you put the percussion cap on) and the ball puller is used when you forget to put powder/wadding in before the ball, or you aren’t able to get the ball packed all the way down against the charge. If you can’t get the ball against the charge, there will be an air space, and if you fire it with an air space, it could lead to unwanted gun disassembly. Or even unwanted face disassembly.

Are you considering broader uses than just for black powder?

Who me? It’s not my black powder stuff.
