Interesting. One could use stepper motors, solenoids, or relays for this. Solenoids and relays move/click when energized, stepper motors move a couple of degrees when energized. You’d need a microphone, an amplifier, run the output of the amplifier not to a speaker, but one of these simple devices, and you’ve got sound.
The printer head shown in the video would be powered by a stepper motor.
Don’t mind me. I’m going to be digging through my pile o spare parts for the rest of the day.
