Here I am in my latest creation:
This is the second shirt I’ve made using this pattern (McCall’s 4922) and I think it might be my new favorite shirt pattern. For a long time I avoided princess seams because I was a afraid they would emphasize my worst physical characteristics. It does make me look rather matronly I think but that is what I am. It’s not my vision of what I would like to look like in a princess style shirt but it actually doesn’t look as bad as I had once feared.
I think the colors will look appropriate throughout the fall/winter/early spring season. They look just slightly off in the picture. The blue is actually a little brighter and is more of a turquoise color and it doesn’t show very well in the picture but there are thin lines of a darker turquoise.

Very nice style. And it looks very flattering on you. I envy you the button hole ability. I used to sew and I always got hung up on the button hole part. I had a lot of 99% finished items that never had buttonholes put on them.

The matching up of the fabric pattern (not the paper one, to make myself clear which I do so rarely, isn’t that just the way?) is a trick I’ve never been able to catch. My mom can seamlessly make print meet up properly, be it fabric or wallpaper. And now I see you have that talent too. Well done!

Thanks. Actually the plaid is not perfectly matched. It was until I put buttons and buttonholes on it but now it’s not lined up perfectly.
Maybe I should make a video about how to stitch buttonholes. (I’m sure there are some on Youtube already.) It’s actually very easy but it’s a dying art because newer sewing machines have built in buttonholers.

The Wife was thrilled when she got her sewing machine that does buttonholes!
