The Jerk in Front

March 14th, 2011

This guy thinks he’s some kind of hero because he got away with refusing to show his receipt to the door person at Wal-mart but he’s really just the jerk at the front of the line. I would have been the woman saying, “Just show him the receipt; it’s not that hard,” and “You don’t have to be such a prick about it.” I’m a little surprised that the other customers didn’t tackle him and get the receipt out of his pocket. I mean… it’s Wal-mart; you know what kind of people shop there. (allegedly)

Well I shop there. And I show my receipts all the time whenever I’m asked. The hapless door checker isn’t responsible for Walmart’s admittedly silly policy (I mean, it’s not like people are going to walk out the door with huge tvs they haven’t paid for — on the other hand, brazen criminals are not unknown.)

I mean really, Walmart isn’t his property. People don’t seem to understand that just because they are standing in some building somewhere that doesn’t mean they own it and get to do whatever they want. If he doesn’t like Walmart’s policies he is free to shop elsewhere. I can’t get over how this guy seems to think he’s some sort of special snowflake fighting The Man. I love how he “calmly ignored” the other people. I wonder how the “Gandhi of receipt-check deniers” would handle being told to hand over his wallet by a mugger with a gun? “The law clearly states you have no right to demand my wallet.” “Oh yeah? Law this!” (Bang!)

Rick. Rhymes with… well, what he was acting like.

Wal-mart is really not a democracy…you shop there, you are tacitly agreeing to their rules.

I mean, if the government starts stopping people on the street and asking for their “papers” and demanding to know where they are going and why, then I’ll have a problem. But not if I buy a stupid appliance at stupid wal-mart. I’m gonna pull out that receipt and go, “Yeah, here it is.” (Like one of the commenters over there said: Stop being difficult for the sake of being difficult.)

I wonder how many people got stacked up behind that guy making his “stand for freedom.” I’m surprised I wasn’t one of them; I always seem to wind up in line behind the people who have unresolvable issues.
