I did not know this. Almost all Calvin and Hobbes merchandise is illegal. Too bad the creator never has never bothered to sue the makers of those annoying window stickers. He probably can’t afford the legal fees.

Bill Watterson staunchly refused to allow merchandising of C&H during the entire time of its run, and at one point he had a nasty fight with the syndicate about it, which almost resulted in him quitting the strip outright. As for him suing, I’m sure he could afford it…but he’s been extremely reclusive since he ended C&H, almost to the point that JD Salinger was, and I suspect that he knows that suing makers of bootleg C&H crap would require a more public presence than he is willing to endure.
