Correct Terminology

June 29th, 2011

Okay boys and girls, pay attention. I’m only going to say this once a thousand times.

This is not a bootThis is a boot.

This is not a bootThis is a boot.

This is not a bootThis is a boot. (I know!. I wouldn’t wear it either but the point is, it is a boot.)

Everybody got it? Alrighty then. Discuss.

    Hah! You funny man.

I’m with you on this one. The very definition of “boot” implies that some protection is being provided. (See, for instance, the boot on a CV joint.) When I was young, however many centuries ago, if the toe of your boot was open, you needed new boots.

Yeah… boots don’t have open toes.

  5. Andrea Harris

I can’t tell you how irritating it is to search for “boot” and get as a result a million links to these spike-heeled, toeless abominations.

I think the “not a boot” examples are often called “booties” by some fashionistas. Although when I think of booty I think of baby feet or Kim Kardashian’s tuchus.
