Appliances that connect to the Internet – I hate to sound like a luddite but no thanks. The tweet clock is kinda cute though.

I put the appliances that connect to the internet in the same category as a television in the bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen. You. Don’t. Need. It. It will be just fine if you cannot get online from your refrigerator, and have to walk all the way to your computer or (More likely) reach all the way into your pocket to get your phone.

Oh come on now. Who wouldn’t want an appliance that scans a web image onto your toast?

Seriously, what were they on when they came up with that.

I’d only want an appliance connected to the Internet if my fridge would send a message to the grocery-delivery service that I was nearly out of milk, and then the nice man from the grocery delivery service would meet me at the door with a gallon of milk. So I would never have to go to the store and deal with the ill-mannered people there.

Then again, I don’t even have a grocery delivery service here, so there’s no point in my having appliances connected to the ‘Net.

(And can you imagine what would happen if someone hacked your home network? You’d have burnt toast and refrigerators ordering 100 bags of frozen English peas.)
