I must admit, I cringe a little bit at my own choice of words, “sewing soul sisters.” It seems to suggest something mutual and I don’t want to put anyone on the spot. All I really mean by it is that I have noticed I have something in common with these ladies, in the area of sewing, and I want to say that they’re all pretty cool and I’m a big fan. So here they are, in the order in which I discovered their blogs.
Erin – A Dress A Day was the first sewing blog I discovered and for a long time it was the only one I knew about. I love that she confidently uses novelty print fabric, sometimes even juvenile prints, to make dresses for herself. I love all kinds of novelty prints myself and Erin makes me feel that there’s nothing wrong with bold and unusual fabric choices.
Anne is absolutely delightful, witty, and fun. Really nothing like me at all. So what do we have in common? We both understand that “gaudy” is a good thing, rules are meant to be broken, and experimenting and doing one’s own thing is what sewing is all about.
Cari – I’m not sure what we have in common, if anything, but when I read her blog something just clicks and I kinda feel like we would have a good time if we could ever go fabric shopping together.
