“Retro” Kids Cereals

June 24th, 2008

Scott linked to this list of “Retro Kids Cereals. First of all, I want to make it perfectly clear that anything that first went on the market after I became an adult is NOT “retro” so this list is just wrong. Second, why didn’t I ever get any Pink Panther Flakes? It’s not fair! I want some Pink Panther Flakes!

I seem to remember Yummy Mummy, and I vaguely remember C3PO’s and the Mr. T cereal.

The others are unknown to me… and some of them are kinda scary looking.

lol… Yeah, I hadn’t heard of most of them. A few I remember from the 80s, I think and only one or two from my childhood. I remember Quisp. Several others look vaguely familiar.

I don’t remember most of those (I do remember C3POs), but that is not so much a function of age, I think, but a function of having a mother who would say, “You may have your choice of cereals: pick Post Toasties or Cheerios.” And she brooked no whining at the grocery store.

We were allowed to have either Lucky Charms or plain Cap’N Crunch if we were sick and wouldn’t eat, though.
