Pink Calico

November 14th, 2008

Darn. I need a new camera. This is what pictures taken in the last few days with my trusty Canon Powershot A60 look like.

Isn’t she pretty in pink? Yes, that’s Dax at the bottom of the pic. They both want to be friends but have different notions of what being friends means. Kes thinks it means snuggling and being affectionate; Dax thinks it means trying to shred and/or eat the one with whom you are trying to be friends.

I think the camera problem is getting worse. At first it was just the whites that looked pink but sometime after the cat pictures I tried to take some pictures of the red leaves on a shrub and they came out with a pink haze all over everything. That is, in the first one it was just a pink haze. The others are almost solid pink.

I’ll see what my favorite electronics guy has to say when he gets home but I’m thinking it might be time to go camera shopping. I like the Canon Powershot SD1100IS and the Sony Cybershot DSC-W150. Points in favor of the Canon: I’ve always really liked the Canon I have; It has some nice features; and it comes in pink. Points in favor of the Sony: It has even nicer features (5X zoom instead of 3X and ISO3200 instead of ISO1600) and it’s in stock at Wal-mart.

I’ll be sure to keep you posted on this Earth-shaking gadget crisis.

UPDATE: And the winner is…… the Sony Cybershot. It takes six hours (!!!) to charge the battery the first time so I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet.

Not that I own many electronics, but I’ve always had good luck with Sony products.

Pink haze? Don’t know what it could be. If it were purple haze I would say it was the ghost of Jimi Hendrix taking over your camera.
